필리핀에서 반년간 어학연수 하던 시절 사귄 친구들과 지금도 페북으로 종종 연락하고 지냅니다.

한 친구의 담벼락에 '무지 감동적...'이라며 올려놓은 글을 천천히 읽었습니다.

뭐 이정도 문장이야 굳이 해석할 필요 있나..라고 하실분 계실지 몰라도 (ㅜㅜ)

어쨌거나 모국어가 아니기에 대부분은 독해하는 시간이 걸릴테니

무척 충격적인 이야기....쏼라쏼라

This is a story from University of the Philippines (Diliman) about a young college girl who passed away last month.

이 이야기는 지난달에 세상을 떠난 여대생의 이야기에요.

Her name was Tiffany. She was hit by a dump truck. She had a boyfriend named Joel . Both of them were true lovers. They always hung on the phone.. You could never see her without her cell phone.

그애의 이름은 티파니. 덤프트럭에 치었답니다. 그애에겐 조엘이라는 남친이 있었는데

둘이는 무척 사랑했대요. 항상 통화중이었죠. 얘가 전화기 없이는 다니는 꼴을 못 봤어요.

In fact she also changed her network coverage from Smart to Globe, so both of them can be on the same network, and save on the cost and get good network coverage.

얘는 이동통신사를 스마트에서 글로브로 바꾸었어요. 그래서 둘이 같은 통신망을 쓰니까

요금도 훨 저렴했고 통화품질도 훨 좋아졌죠.

(주-필리핀에는 스마트와 글로브 라는 두개의 통신사가 있습니다.

우리나라에는 유심칩이라는게 최근 몇년사이에 도입되긴 했는데, 기기 자체를 등록하는 방식이고요

외국은 대부분 심침(심카드)이란걸 사고 전화기도 공기계 따로 사서 꽂아서 쓰는 편입니다.)

She spends half of the day talking/texting with Joel. Tiffany's family knew about their relationship. Joel was very close with Tiffany's family. (Just imagine their love). Before she passed away she always told her friends "If I pass Away please bury me with my hand phone" she also said the same thing to her parents.

그애는 하루 반나절을 조엘이랑 전화하랑 문자질을하고 보냈어요. 티파니의 가족들도 이들의

관계를 알았고, 조엘도 티파니네 가족이랑 무척 가깝게 지냈죠.

티파니는 생전에 친구들에게 항상 입버릇처럼 말했더래요

"만약 내가 죽으면 꼭 내 휴대전화랑 같이 묻어줘" 물론 부모님들에게도요.

After her death, people couldn't carry her coffin, I was there. A lot of them tried to do so but still couldn't, everybody including me, had tried to carry the coffin, the result is still the same. Eventually, they called a Feng Shui Master. He took a stick and started speaking to himself slowly.

그애가 죽고, 사람들은 그애의 관을 옮길수가 없었어요. 나도 거기 있었어요. 많은 사람들이 옮기려 했지만 움직이지 않았어요. 나를 포함한 모두가 달라붙어 옮기려 해봤지만 결과는 같았어요.

결국 그들은 풍수사를 불렀어요. (주- 무당, 점쟁이 이런 말인듯합니다. Feng Shui = 風水의 중국식 발음)

그는 막대를 쥐고 천천히 혼잣말을 시작했어요.(주문 외운단거인듯??)

After a few minutes, he said "THIS GIRL MISSES SOMETHING HERE". Then her friends told the Master about her intentions to bury her with her phone. He then opened the coffin and placed her phone and SIM card inside the casket. After that they tried to carry the coffin. It could be moved and they carried it into the van easily. All of us were shocked.

몇 분 뒤, 그는 "이 소녀는 여기에 뭔가 놓고 왔어" 라고 말했어요. 그러자 그애의 친구들이 풍수사에게 휴대전화에 대한 유언을 이야기해줬죠. 그는 관을 열고 그애의 휴대전화와 심카드을 상자에 담아 넣었어요. 그제야, 그들은 관을 영구차에 실을 수 있었죠. 우리는 정말 황당했어요.

Tiffany's parents did not inform Joel that Tiffany had passed away. After 2 weeks Joel called Tiffany's mom and said,

"I'm coming home today. Cook something nice po, ha? Don't tell Tiffany that I'm coming home today, I wanna surprise her.

티파니의 부모는 조엘에게 티파니의 죽음을 알리지 않았어요. 2 주 후 조엘이 티파니의 엄마에게 전화를 했어요.

"나 오늘 집에 가요. 맛있는거 만들어줘요? 티파니한텐 저 간다고 말하지 마요 놀래켜줄거니깐"

"Her mother replied... "You come home first, I wanna tell you something very important."

엄마는 대답했어요 "일단 집에 오렴. 중요한 얘기가 있단다."

After he came, they told him the truth about Tiffany . Joel thought that they were playing a fool.. He was laughing and said "don't try to fool me - tell Tiffany to come out, I have a gift for her. Please stop this nonsense".

그가 집에 오자, 그들은 그에게 티파니에 대해 말했어요. 조엘은 그들이 자신을 놀린다고 생각했죠.

웃으면서 "놀리지 마시구~ 티파니나 얼른 나오라고 하세요 걔 주려구 선물 사왔는데. 장난 그만 치시구요."

Then they showed him her grave. Joel said, "It's not true. We spoke yesterday. She still calls me." Joel was shaking.

그들은 조엘에게 티파니의 무덤을 보여주었어요. 조엘은 "그럴리가 없어. 우리 어제도 통화했단 말이에요." 조엘은 고개를 저었어요.

Suddenly, his phone rang. "See.. this is from Tiffany, see this..." he showed the phone to Tiffany's family.

All of them told him to answer.

갑자기, 조엘의 휴대전화가 울렸어요. "봐요.... 티파니 전화에요 이것 봐요..."

전화기를 티파니의 부모에게 보여주자, 조엘에게 전화를 받아보라고 했어요.

He talked using the loudspeaker mode. All of them heard their conversation. Loud and clear, no cross lines, no humming.

조엘은 전화를 스피커폰 모드로 받았어요. 모두가 그들의 통화를 들을 수 있었어요.

크고, 깨끗하고, 혼선도 잡음도 없이.

It was the actual voice of Tiffany & there was no way others could use her SIM card since it was nailed inside the coffin.

그건 정말로 티파니의 목소리였어요. 그애의 관 속에 묻힌 심카드를 누군가 사용했을리도 없었고요.

They were so shocked and asked for the Feng Shui Master's help again.

그들은 정말 충격을 받았고, 풍수사에게 다시 도움을 청했어요.

The Master brought his co-masters to solve this matter. He & his co-masters worked for 5 hours. Then they discovered one thing...

풍수사는 해결을 위해 자신의 동료를 데려왔어요. 풍수사와 동료는 5시간의 작업 끝에,

한가지 사실을 발견할 수 있었답니다............
