SYNOPSIS

'엄마'라는 이름은 아주 일상적인 단어면서도 불가능한 미션을 상징한다. 다큐멘터리감독인 나는 준비없이 결혼하여 얼떨결에 엄마가 되었다. 엄마 자격이 없는 것 같다는 자책으로 끊임없이 괴로워하면서도 일을 포기하지 않으며 10년 동안 세 아이를 키웠다. 그 시간을 거치며 나는, 아이를 키운다는 건 내 안에 살고 있는 내면아이를 돌보는 과정이라는 것을 알게 된다. 결국 이 영화는 세상에는 나 같은 엄마도 있다는 것을 쑥스럽게 고백하는 10년 간의 육아일기이다.

 

‘Mother’ is a very ordinary word but stands for some impossible mission. I, a documentary film maker got married without any preparation and became a mother in the same way. I was feeling bad with doubt on my qualified as a mother, but did not give up my work. During 10 years, I brought 3 children up and I can say that was the time for caring my inner self. I realize that my inner self is a child and need to care. So this film is a kind of a baby book which confesses that a person like me could be a mother.

 

DIRECTOR’S NOTE
아이랑 함께 있다 보면 수시로 내 안에 가라앉아있는 것들을 보게 된다. 울음을 참지 못하는 그 어디쯤, 마음이 찡해지는 그 어디쯤에서 내 안에 웅크린 어린 내가 그 존재감을 알린다. 아이가 없었더라면 그냥 저냥 살아갔을 내 인생이 아이 때문에 드라마틱해졌고, 아이의 성장 드라마를 함께 쓰며 나 또한 성장해왔다. 초보 엄마로 실수를 연발하며 키웠던 하은이, 아이들이 만드는 작은 우주라고 할 수 있는 어린이집을 엿보게 해주었던 한별이, 그리고 언니 오빠와는 너무나 다른 강한 성격 때문에 세상의 모든 아이들을 다시 보게 만들었던 은별이. 이 세 아이들은 내 영화의 주인공들이자 내 인생의 연출자들이다. 이 영화는 10년동안 아이들과 함께 써온 육아일기이자 시리즈의 끝이 궁금한 육아시트콤이다.     

When I am with my children, I often see what I have deep in my mind. The moments I cannot swallow sorrow or feeling my heart poked, I see my inner self as a baby. My dramatic life would be normal if there were no children. I was becoming a real grown-up while witnessing children growing up. I was lack of adroit when I brought up my first child Ha-en. Thanks to Han-byul, I came to know that child care center is a universe of children. And the last one Eun-byul, who has absolutely different strong character from her siblings, makes me to have different point of view on children in the world. These three children are heroin of this film and directors of my life. This film is a babybook of 10 years of history written by me and my children, also a baby-sitcom no one ever knows the ending.
